Building information modelling bears fruit

ProSiebenSat.1

The scope of services of M&P

  • Development and implementation of BSE planning as of HOAI work phase 3
  • Use of a BIM model that ensures high quality and productivity, time savings and cost efficiency in all phases of construction
  • More than 25 BSE, BIM and energy experts from five M&P locations ensure smooth running of planning work and rapid knowledge transfer

A green field site for innovation

The DAX-listed company ProSiebenSat.1 is building a modern campus at its largest location in Germany, Unterföhring. The media Group sees itself as a company from ‘Unterföhring, Bavaria and Germany’ and is setting the standard for modern work with the new construction project.

The media Group wants to combine its entertainment and information offerings under one roof on the campus. Versatile usage areas are to be created on a gross floor area of over 80,000 m², including studios, workshops, warehouses, control rooms and play-out centres, cutter areas with high-end rooms and off-cabins. A corporate centre, office spaces and conference rooms, restaurants, an underground car park and a data centre will also be located on the new site. In this way, the media giant is intensifying its use of the site and doubling its workplace capacity to 1,700.

The existing buildings from the 1960s no longer meet the requirements of the modern working world and are being completely demolished. On the ‘green field’, a new campus is being built that impresses architecturally and meets all technical requirements. The core of a media Group is the supply technology and functionality of the buildings.

We are very pleased about the trust placed in us to plan the ‘heart of the campus’ in the form of the entirety of the building services. The project offers many opportunities to think innovatively and to find groundbreaking solutions.

From lateral entrant to top player

The kick-off for the overall New Campus project was as long ago as 2016. In the summer of 2017, the pre-planner unexpectedly left the project. M&P was ready for the leading role in the field of BSE: in well-known projects such as at the Elbphilharmonie, we had already proved our ability to act as problem solvers, quickly get into the groove and successfully accompany a project through to the end. Our entry into ProSiebenSat.1 also went smoothly: as of work phase 3, we have been responsible for the entire BSE planning. The start of the first construction phase is planned for this year. Construction is expected to last until 2023.

Information leadership and experience

The entire project will be implemented in 3D with BIM. BIM allows us to combine the different sectors of planning such as architecture, statics, building physics and building services engineering in one model, in order to achieve higher quality of work and greater productivity with fewer errors and delays, while optimising implementation costs. M&P is a leading innovator in this area, with an ever-growing team that always delivers state-of-the-art work thanks to varied training courses. Nowadays, we also use BIM in facility management (BIM-FM) to operate buildings more efficiently: a trendy topic that is of growing interest to many leading companies. M&P has also already implemented several projects in this area in Germany and Switzerland.

Successful across locations

A large project team of over 25 BSE, BIM and energy experts as well as project managers from five M&P locations ensures that all the planning work in Unterföhring runs smoothly and just in time. In this way, we benefit from a transfer of knowledge and experience throughout the entire M&P Group. And exactly that is our greatest strength.
